This spring, we’re launching two new emergency responses as millions of families are affected by conflict and hunger in South Sudan and Central African Republic. Thanks to your gifts, we’ve been able to respond quickly. Your support will truly change lives—just like it did for Maombi Babonye.

After conflict forced them from their home in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Maombi Babonye made a home for her young family in a temporary shelter for seven years. She struggled to provide and ultimately lost a child to hunger.

Maombi was terrified when her daughter Dorcas fell ill last year—she thought she would lose another child. And Maombi herself badly needed medical support at the same time.

Today, Dorcas is a happy, healthy 4-year-old, and Maombi is not only healthy, but running a small business and providing independently for the whole family. 

Right now, your support is helping us reach families just like Maombi’s in South Sudan and Central African Republic. Just $17 provides a week’s worth of support to a family in Central African Republic to help them get through while they wait for peace and begin to rebuild. 

Because of the gifts we received last year, we didn’t have to wait to respond. Our partners in Central African Republic and South Sudan are already carrying out our response, identifying those in the community who most need support — like families with malnourished children, children who have lost their parents, pregnant and nursing women and the elderly.
